Koyaanisqatsi revisited

Today for no apparent [conscious] reason I remembered a great film – it is Koyaanisqatsi, made in 1982. It is all images and music – music by Phillip Glass.

I first saw this on tv. Then on the big screen in Greenwich Village. Again at the Beacon Theater in NYC, with Phillip Glass and an orchestra playing along live, instead of the soundtrack.

Koyaanisqatsi means “life out of balance.”

I think the film still resonates today.

Here is the trailer.

  1. Amazing images. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this film.

  2. Oh, you should check it out some day – I think you’d like it. There is no dialogue, it is all like what you see in this trailer.

  3. Oh, yes, we should watch this again sometime!

  4. Yeah. Gotta get in the mood first…
